School Checklist Notepad
Having had a child recently starting on their school journey, I've become very aware of the time it takes for young children to get ready as soon as they know there is a certain time to be somewhere. Especially when it happens every single day. So instead of becoming increasingly stressed about this, I developed a colourful checklist, to give my child ownership and independence in his morning routine. He chose the colours, and likes to pick a different coloured pen/pencil each morning to tick off the completed tasks (breakfast, getting dressed, brushing teeth and getting school bag ready) and move on to the next. He now has some responsibility in getting ready, and we've included a small reward at the end of the week if he can put a nice big tick in each box each day.
